Great Hare: Call Me Stupid

Great HareGreat Hare is an indie rock quartet from Gothenburg, Sweden. Drummer Lars Olausson, singer and guitarist Kalle Mogren, guitarist Anders Holmström and bass player and producer Berne Randulv formed Great Hare a few years ago, after a long hiatus from music. They soon found a cramped loft and turned it into a simple rehearsal and recording studio, subsequently cranking out huge waves of sound. Due to repeated encounters with hares at significant life events, the band was dubbed ‘Great Hare‘ after the giver of life and creator of all things in native American mythology. The band had some more great insights to share about their songwriting process:

“We turn up and turn on the lights at night looking for melodies that want to be turned into songs. Places that exist for a few minutes, with clouds, storms and pockets of calm made of rhythmic low frequencies, pulsating notes and shimmering layers of guitars and vocals. The good ones arrive like waves hitting a beach or echoes of something submerged under the surface. We keep at those to find out how to capture them and put them to use again, like dreams that help you stay awake”

The new EP “Only the Birds” should be out fairly soon, and they’ve also got a new video up for the currently free track “A Faint Light” which looks to also be on the new forthcoming release.
