Spookyland: Rock and Roll Weakling

Spookyland
Monday Records has announced the release of the newest piece of art, Rock and Roll Weakling, by Sydney Australia’s SPOOKYLAND, delivering the goods this Friday the 18th of July! A national tour will be announced over the next few days, which we assume means their homeland of AUS. The track is not to be missed, a blistering piece of country-laced soulful rock that reminds me of classic heavyweights like Bob Dylan and Neil Young, as well as favorite local CA band, The Mother Hips.

Rock and Roll Weakling apparently puts a harder twist on Spookyland’s already signature sound, set with the previous single The Silly Fucking Thing. Last month, The Silly Fucking Thing pushed Spookyland into the international spotlight, garnering attention from the likes of Pitchfork and NME, and amassing 25,000 soundcloud plays in the first two week of its release.

We’ve included the video of the last single futher below, as we got buried around the time of its release and initially missed the boat. Rory Pearson is at the helm here, with a video “starring a raccoon eyed Marcus Gordon, a symbolically colourful bowl of froot loops and up and coming local AUS actors Rahel Abdulrahman and Brielle Flynn“.
