Marian Call: Dear Mister Darcy

Anchorage Alaska’s Marian Call has a new album “Something Fierce” officially arriving Nov. 13th.

Her personal transformation after moving to Alaska, and her journeys to and from the Last Frontier, served as a primary inspiration for Something Fierce. Each song in the two-movement work is forged from personal experience and grounded in a powerful sense of geography. The stories range from Nome to New Orleans, and many were written and recorded during Call’s 2010 tour of all fifty United States and Canada. But after sweeping the length of the continent, in a whirlwind of rhymes, Marian Call’s voice always returns to a clear ringing melody and magnetic North.

  1. Ever rambunctious, she entertains she elates, she elevates soulfully – yearning gap-toothed, do obedient takers’ seek killer rhythm. Merriment teems, seeking great tracks surely yonder!

(Man that took waaaay longer than I would have thought…)

  2. Marian’s song greets sad Darcy? Yes. She’s slow with her relevance, even now. Why? Your regular Renaissance-era ambition? Nope. Elizabeth heard Darcy’s suit toward … dang. Got tough. Help!

  3. Songstress’ silky yearnings slide earwards.
    Supple ebullience!
    Exciting. Gorgeous. Sensational.
Living greatness swept through her repertoire.
    Exceptional, like effervescence evanescent …
    thoroughly heartfelt. Tortuously youthful.

  4. “Dear Mr Darcy” is a good tune to sing along with because it is full of nicely-assembled words that ring with genuine feelings and veracity. It is easy to empathize with the song’s protagonist and flush with anger in sympathy. There is a glee in the way that the music punctuates the sentiments as they are expressed and of course Marian’s silky voice and pitch perfect delivery makes it even more seductive.

  5. Yet they yearn, never realizing, gracious smile elating glee, earning great treacherous strings so often near real live emotions; save enough heart to open new wonderful lovely yellow-colored dreams.

  6. Bang go ominous, seductive, enigmatic compositions not technically yodeling genre ejection, nor rude ethos sending grotesque elongated deliveries. 7. Typewriter rhythms – sensational! Lusciously, you unearth harmonies so overwhelming. Great tart too! :0) (couldn’t find a way to fit the word quiche!?!). ‘Shrug girl’, Trowbridge x

  8. I scared off the cat that made the grab for my tongue, to share some words. Mr. Darcy is an unfortunate bloke lacking the confidence to chase the girl, who lacks the boldness to make the first move. A love ballad, with several kicks of jazz.
