Julia Turner: Wake Up

Fifteen Times the Moon is an outstanding collection of original songs released mid-November by Bristol UK based artist Julia Turner that explore the weather patterns of life, our fears, hopes and relationships with both ourselves and each other. The album title was inspired by the incredible true story of a Mexican fisherman, who one quiet afternoon set out on a fishing trip but was then caught up in a huge storm. He was not heard of again for fifteen months, at which point, after all hope was lost, he was discovered on a deserted island in the Pacific Ocean.

Julia is a jazz musician and poet at heart and this comes through in her music. She says ‘The songs on this album are very story based and I wanted to expose our vulnerability as musicians and people in the recordings because that’s what makes the music really come alive‘.

A video for another song on the release ‘I Call to You‘, a collaboration with musician Sunniva Brynnel in Sweden, can be found further below with vocals that completely capture the collaborative feel behind two artists separated by a long distance.
