Thad Kopec: Guardian

Thad KopecThad Kopec released “Guardian”, the second single from his forthcoming EP The Ridge, on May 19th. A cinematic indie folk narrative with instrumentation at the core, the song chronicles the journey of a son in search of his father while “the guardian questions his motives”.

Sweeping horns invigorate the imagination, while a percussive fluidity pervades the instrumentals due to the addition of Alex Plasket on trombones. The addition of Molly Parden’s vocals bring out a mysteriously lovely element to round out the song’s depth. Kopec says, “I wrote the song with just an acoustic guitar, but once I started adding instrumentation, I realized there was a lot of room to just play with the sound and make it feel like a musical journey as well as a lyrical and emotional one.”
