Kashka: Prophet (Repost)

KashkaIt all started in Parkdale, a west-end neighbourhood of Toronto. Kat Burns of former band Forest City Lovers started exploring new sounds and songwriting styles, which led to a collaboration with longtime friend and producer James Bunton (Light Fires, Ohbijou, Evening Hymns). She found her new direction, and KASHKA was born. The resulting album was 2012’s Vichada, which was met with praise and pushed her new sound, coined folkpoptronica, out onto the road with tours in North America and Europe. Soon afterwards, she began working on her follow up.

KASHKA is now set to release her sophomore album, BOUND, on January 14th, 2014.

The Leon Taheny (Rituals, Dusted) produced album explores themes of family history, self-reflection and fractured relationships. An array of talented Toronto-based musicians, including members of Bruce Peninsula, Bernice, the Bicycles, Ohbijou and Tokyo Police Club contributed to the album.

In addition to this excellent new song from the forthcoming album “Prophet”, we’ve included a very fun video below for the first single “Never Had It”.
