Sidney York: Dick and Jane

Sidney YorkToday’s feature comes by way of Calgary, Canada, a play on the traditional children’s books “Dick and Jane” (in my case it was “Janet and Mark”). This single is currently being offered as an mp3 download in support of their upcoming EP release due out in the US on January 14, 2014.

The song, inspired by front woman Brandi Sidoryk’s bike travels through Tasmania, was originally written in two days for a pilot episode of a cycling show and involves an array of unconventional instruments including french horn, bassoon, oboe, and ukulele.

The group will be featured in the forthcoming documentary Tracks on Tracks, which showcases ten Canadian acts on a cross-country musical adventure aboard a VIA Rail train. A forthcoming new full-length album, is set to be released in 2014 with tourdates planned from January to March.
