Great Lakes upcoming album Ways of Escape (October 12th, 2010) finds singer Ben Crum assuming the role of chief songwriter for the band’s 4th full length. Along for the alt-country tinged ride are a bevy of talented musicians from Mice Parade, Beiruit, Ryan Adams, and Ted Leo & The Pharmacists.
Crum brings a very frank and personal tone to the record, but Great Lakes retains its signature psychedelic edge, albeit a considerably mellower one. Ghost Brother is a perfect example of the album’s country roots fused with outstanding musicianship, all coming together for a warm, rich sound that would have been perfect in the 70’s.
