Lights On: Red Lights Flashing

On July 6th, post-punk garage rockers Lights On released their self-produced full-length debut ‘HERE COMES THE OCEAN’ (Self-Release), a well-crafted modern pop record comprised of multi-layered, new wave inspired material. Led by Mike Kamoo and Tim Hines of Earthling Studios, the San Diego based quintet blends euphoric vocals echoing Polyphonic Spree, splashes of vintage synth recalling The Killers, and epic, angular guitar riffs reminiscent of Echo and the Bunnymen for an inspired lo-fi sound.

Since the release of ‘WAITING FOR THE HEART TO BEAT’, the band’s debut EP, Lights On has gained international exposure throughout the music blogosphere, praise from MTV’s Buzzworthy blog, and two “Best of…” nominations from The San Diego Music Awards. Their songs were featured in various prime-time television shows such as The CW’s ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’, ABC Family’s ‘Greek’, HBO’s ‘Hung’, and SHOWTIME’s ‘The United States of Tara’. Before long, Lights On found themselves on extensive US tours and opening up for international acts such as Peter Bjorn and John and Loney Dear.

On July 17th, the band will play a special record release show at San Diego’s Tin Can Ale House, followed by a 4-day stint of performances in the Greater New York City area.
