Beth Thornley: Wash U Clean

You may know LA musician Beth Thornley from seasonal efforts such as the Bowen Beer Bottle Band, whose viral beer-bottle music session rang up close to a million YouTube views to date, after first launch during the winter holidays of  ’09. I believe Beth was one of about twenty glass-blowing performers during this amazing yuletide beer-bottle-playing  kokopelli jam.  Sample:  Do you hear what I hear?

We are very excited that Beth’s new album (her third) delivered in March, and the title track ‘Wash U Clean’,  delivers a playful swagger and highlights a rampaging funky saxophone from bandmate Rob Cairns that really starts to seemingly belch-out smoke throughout the entire song. It really helps accentuate parts of the rich lyrical content and adds another dimension to her overall sound.  In a live setting, its quite amazing.  Here’s a little of what I’m talking about, at least in the lyrical department:

U run it rich, that carburetor
U gotta open, open that choke
‘Cause when youre here, the air it won’t clear
And u just blowin’, just blowin’ smoke

Before we leave you, we’d like to direct your attention to some exciting news from Beth: “You’re So Pony” (a single from the new album) was announced as an International Songwriting Contest finalist in the pop category!
