Hopewell: Island

It’s been some time since we’ve checked in with New York band HOPEWELL. You may recall us heavily featuring their track ‘Calcutta’ starting back around 2006.

They’ve had a lengthy history that includes countless singles and compilations, and opening for My Bloody Valentine on their recent reunion tour, working in the past with producer Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, MGMT, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah), recording a Peel session live at Abbey Road Studio, and playing Reading and Leeds Festivals — all without the help of a large label, manager or booking agent.

Well, several years later Hopewell set out to make a record that more captured their live sound. With Good Good Desperation, Hopewell’s journey continues in a grassroots, homespun sort of way — down their own noisy path.

Check out HOPEWELL as part of the Tee Pee Records showcase this March 18th at SXSW in Austin, TX! Just show up to Habana Calle 6 for a 13 band onslaught.
