Modernage: Creatures

ModernageBeing based out of Miami, FL has not stopped Modernage from accomplishing anything they have wanted to. Modernage has released three records: the Debut EP ‘Receiver,’ single ‘Strangers/This Song,’ and their new EP ‘Sirhan Sirhan.’ Without formal representation the indie quintette has toured the US east coast, Los Angeles, Mexico and all of Florida opening for major label acts such as Bloc Party, The Stills, The Walkmen, Magnet, Elefant and Peter Hook. Modernage videos have been on rotation in Mexico, South America, and various US networks including band profiles on MTV3 and Plum TV. The early single ‘’The Shore’’ is currently in use in Toyota’s Yaris ‘Test Drive online campaign.

Over the course of their short career, Modernage has solidified its signature motifs: driving bass lines, tight energetic drums, cutting guitars, and Giancarlo’s forceful balladry. The ‘Sirhan Sirhan EP’ builds on this sound and takes off in a new direction. ‘The Victim’ starts off the record with pounding drums and an overblown synth culminating in Giancarlo’s affective chorus. ‘Somewhere’ is alternative pop rock at it’s finest. It’s reggae influenced verses give way to an anthem-like outro unlike anything Modernage has done before. ‘Creatures’ is heart of the record. It’s beautiful guitar harmonies, tight rhythm section, and vocal melodies are perfectly crafted to tug at the heartstrings. In ‘7/9/12’ the band show go electronic with a four on the floor dance track. With a nonstop bassline, memorable guitar riffs, and Giancarlo’s crooning, the title track ‘Sirhan Sirhan’ closes out the record by doing what Modernage does best.

With tour dates being planned for 2009, the videos for ‘Creatures’ and ‘7/9/12’ ready for release, and their new single ‘Young City’ in the works, Modernage is ready to steam roll the face off the music world. [musebox]
