Soren Anders: Proof Conjecture

December 8, 2008
Written by Stuart Morrison

Soren Anders is from New York, and this is from his Album ‘I Know A Hundred Ways To Die’

The former frontman of critically acclaimed band Shimmerplanet now has a solo career.

The new Anders songs are scored for just violin, cello and keyboard, and feature Anders’ hushed and understated vocals.

What a great song! He’s like the male Regina Spektor.

    This just in:

Soren Anders to Perform at The Alphabet Lounge

New York, NY – January 6, 2009 – Alternative/Indie artist Soren Anders, best known as the frontman of the poly-genre band Shimmerplanet, will be performing at The Alphabet Lounge (104 Avenue C) on February 5, 2009 at 8:00pm, in celebration of the release of three new EPs, “I Know A Hundred Ways To Die” and its corresponding remix EP, and “The Last Leaf of Autumn.” He will be accompanied by Cynthia Marcus on violin, Christo Logan on cello, and Kai Gross on synthesizer. Tickets are eight dollars at the door.

Hailing from New York, Soren is a composer, singer, producer, and instrumentalist. Drawing from influences such as Regina Spektor, Björk, Andrew Bird, and even classical composers like Maurice Ravel, Soren has created a clever sound that ranges from dark reflection on “The Thorn In The Side Of A Boy,” which has quickly become a fan favorite because of its allusions to Morrissey’s “The Boy With A Thorn In His Side,” to quirky radio-friendly singles like “Proof Conjecture,” both of which can be purchased on iTunes along with four other original tracks and three remixes. His solo album is set to release in the near future on Shark Meat Records, the same label who released Shimmerplanet’s critically-acclaimed album “For the One Who Kills Tomorrow.”

Got something to say?
