Blitzen TrapperOut of the fifty odd groups I saw in Texas this last March, Blitzen Trapper certainly earned itself a well fought best-in-show on my swollen showcase spreadsheet. The picture I took here is from their performance at the Hot Freaks Day Party, right before a British Sea Power performance.

As I suspected, the music struck that perfect chord and really accentuated the feel of Austin and the musical storm swirling around me for four maddening days. Even a random attendee I met in the long 2am shuttle ride back to my hotel echoed my sentiments on the raw energy flowing around their shows.

Blitzen Trapper are a six piece ameri-electro-cana (new genres created here daily) band from Portland Oregon who are currently signed to Sub Pop Records, having released their third album, “Wild Mountain Nation” on the label in 2007. Before this they came together in 2000, and released two other albums, one self titled (2003) and the other called “Field Rexx” (2004).

You can purchase “Wild Mountain Nation” at e-music and/or itunes. [cs]
