Gingerlys: Turtledoves
Recently we stumbled across the most recent sampler from San Diego label Topshelf Records, one of our favorite labels here in the US. The newly released Nov 2017 sampler features twenty-two exceptionally surprising tracks with the perfect lead-off song “Turtledoves“, coming from Brooklyn based pop band, Gingerlys. This, one of many standout tracks on the comp, comes from the S/T LP released through TopShelf Records and Babe City Records on November 17th.
Gingerlys reportedly began when guitarist Matt Richards started sharing acoustic demos of his songs with his fellow bandmates in his Valley Stream, New York basement. Vocalist/keyboardist Maria Garnica, guitarist Colin O’Neill and bassist Kevin Doxsey brought life to the rough demos. Soon the band became a quintet when Brian Alvarez was drafted permanently behind the drum kit.
