The Boxing: One by One
Ahead of a performance at this years’ Goldsounds festival on 20th May, Leeds UK psych-rock 3-piece The Boxing release latest single One by One.
A dark, swirling, drifty track fuelled by attitude, ‘One by One’ is “about depression and the culture of silence around it” explains frontman/guitarist Harrison Warke, and on the sonics: “We wanted to elaborate musically on the first couple of singles, it’s the first tune we’ve recorded in a proper studio and that gave us freedom to experiment and flesh out the arrangement a bit more.” Completing the line-up are drummer Charlie Webb and bassist Henry Chatham, generating a surprisingly expansive sound for a band of just three people. |
Drawing comparisons to the likes of W.H. Lung, Eagulls or The Vryll society, The Boxing are a fine addition to the burgeoning likes of both the current nouveau psych scene and Leeds’ blossoming alt rock renaissance.
‘One by One’ is available to stream and download on all major platforms from 9th May. [via Super Cat PR]
