Sun Kin: Planet Earthling (feat. Exitpost)
Sun Kin is a pop group formed in 2011 that plays celestial songs by Kabir Kumar, an Oakland resident whose family never really settled anywhere while he grew up. Kabir’s songs wonder about the idea of “home” and the societal boundaries between people and the effect of neoliberal capitalism on our human connections. They’ve been described as sounding like “a depraved Shins.”
The featured track comes from their excellent 2016 LP, ‘Moon For Days‘. The beautiful artwork adorning the album cover is by Laura Kiernan & Katie Levitt
Influences: Battles, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, David Bowie, Dirty Projectors, Fleetwood Mac, Yo La Tengo, Grizzly Bear, Blood Orange
