Why a Fox: Afloat
WHY A FOX is a one man emo folk fusion band hailing from the North Eastern suburbs of Adelaide but residing in Fukushima, Japan. Hayden Marks currently helms the full musical effort here taking on the roles of vocals, guitars, bass, piano as well as drums.
His recent EP Participation Medal, released this Oct 26th, was a labour of love for the past year, recorded and rerecorded around a hundred times to get the sound just right. A lot of it was very personal to the songwriter, so naturally became a little difficult to write some of the pieces. This effort is very promising with gems scattered throughout including a few personal favorites such as the excellent featured single Afloat and the evocative track Adelaide.
Why a Fox hasn’t wasted any time and is now working on a full length ‘Not happy with what I have, not sure what I’m chasing‘ a music and creative expansion for the artist, with the promise of a more fleshed out sound via instruments added to the mix such as violins, cellos and even the glockenspiel.
