Ki:Theory: Open Wound (ODESZA remix)
Ki:Theory (“Key Theory”) is the alias for Richmond, Virginia based recording artist and producer, Joel Burleson, with his featured track here today remixed by Seattle’s ODESZA – a duo comprised of Harrison Mills & Clayton Knight.
The track delivers quite a nice array of sounds, the electronic palette ever-changing in this beautiful soundscape that is just impossible to capture these days with less traditional instruments. Ki:Theory’s growing success has been seen in the multitude of works and remixes that he’s been involved in, several of which are listed below. If you are unfamiliar with his work, this is definitely an interesting read:
Ki:Theory’s most recent double album, KITTY HAWK Deluxe (Kringer Records), featured a version of Ben E. King’s hit “Stand By Me” that exploded on the scene in a 2014 Super Bowl ad and episode of FOX’s hit TV show, the Following starring Kevin Bacon. “Stand By Me” was also featured in the movie trailer for Brick Mansions starring Paul Walker and RZA along with TV spots for Marco Polo (Netflix), Dallas (TNT), and Bates Motel (A&E). Ki:Theory has also done commissioned remixes for Daft Punk/Tron: Legacy, Kings of Leon, Queens of the Stone Age, Cypress Hill, Rob Zombie, Odesza, Unkle, Rodrigo y Gabriela with Hans Zimmer and Brazilian Girls amongst others. Ki:Theory’s remix for Daft Punk’s “The Son Of Flynn” for Tron: Legacy was featured on the official remix album, Tron Legacy R3C0NF1GUR3D.
