Cafeine: Love Disease (Christmas in New York)
Montreal artist Xavier Cafeine is preparing to release his next album New Love on February 17th and has just put out the first excellent holiday flavored single, “Love Disease (Christmas in New York).” While the forthcoming New Love is described as an anthemic celebration of the will to survive, his first single, is also described an ode to the pain and isolation of one’s first Christmas without a lost love.
Fluent in both English and French, Cafeine likens his approach to songwriting to an accomplished chef who favors using several varied ingredients:
“I really want to push my musical boundaries, explore a wider spectrum, and return to what I love about writing and recording. We often try to define music into styles and categories. My music has been described as garage, glam, punk, and pop. Whatever. I always found it a bit simplistic. I am a musician first and foremost.”
