Blue Mtn Belle: Silent Film
Detroit Michigan’s BLUE MTN BELLE have released their self-titled four song indie-folk flavored EP this past March, apparently inspired by Bukowski, antique furniture, and the wild west, with production work performed by John Katona of Dog & Panther.
The track Silent Film is a downtempo gem, one of the more powerful pieces I’ve heard thus far during the year, with a picture perfect narrative and voice that could easily frame the action for Swanson, Pickford, Garbo or Clara Bow in any number of the old silents. I could definitely see the video for this being a short section of old obscure public domain film from those expressive artful years of early cinema.
The group has toured all over the country but spends of time in Detroit, playing shows and arranging all different kinds of music opportunities to restore Detroit to it’s former glory.
Check out the rest of the EP below at Bandcamp, as well as a live video we’ve embedded below of another favorite, “Porcelain Girls.”
