Spaceship Days: Heartbeat
Durham, North Carolina’s Spaceship Days are on the verge of releasing their new EP “Saving the Universe” in just a few short days on July 1st and it should hit pretty hard, if today’s featured track is any indication. Vocalist Adam Lee Decker has a very full voice with huge potential, that somewhat reminds me of favorite punk vocalist, Zolli Teglas of Ignite – although obviously with his own distinct style and inflections.
The alt-pop driven group took their name from a lyric in a Catherine Wheel song, and have released a few albums indpendently over the last few years since formation in 2009. ‘The Halo Effect’ dropped that first year, followed up by ‘Black Holes & Butterflies’ in 2010. The founding members of the band – Greg Torsone (guitars/production) and Chuck Cox (bass) joined forces with a new vocalist, American Idol / America’s Got Talent Finalist Adam Lee Decker, and released ‘The Thrill of Freefall’ in March 2013. Veteran percussionist Dave Kress joined the band on drums soon after and the quartet went back to work with a string of well received shows.
