Jackson Fishauf: Mystery Books
Toronto songwriter Jackson Fishauf recently released his first album,’The Legitimate’ LP, 10 songs clocking in at 21 minutes, recorded over the course of three days at the Dream House Studio with members of Toronto rock band Cousin.
We paid his website a visit taking the time to listen and watch about 10-20 fascinating videos he’d posted, getting an idea of some of his influences that he’d listed such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Crazy Horse, The Velvet Underground, Pavement, Hank Williams, Bill Callahan, Dinosaur Jr, Talking Heads and Grandaddy.
The video he’s posted for ‘Mystery Books’ with the great crunch-filled guitar track compliments the actions of the somewhat mischievous little girl and the timeless filmic tradition of making a pursuing adult look ridiculous. The track is almost too short but definitely not linear, completely enveloping you in the multi-layered guitar goodness, which conjures up visions of Dinosaur Jr. hooks with vocals possibly somewhere between Mascis and Neil Young. Check out more pop wonderment at his social sites, and grab a copy of his album at the BandCamp link below.
