Kinetics: The Ocean
Swedish indie pop band KINETICS is back with another excellent single released on March 12th, one of several we’ve featured over the last handful of months, and just in time for Spring’s arrival. The song kept boiling up from my unconscious today at work, there being several moments where I had to stop and nod my head in momentary bliss before continuing on.
We came across the suitable and inspiring description: “The Ocean is a majestic song, a feverish, intense journey through a barren landscape towards an unavoidable catharsis. A suggestive song where darkness sometimes gives in for streaks of light and gives way for a final, hopeful crescendo. It’s a wonderful progression of moods and sounds where the chords swing from major to minor in a delicately crafted piece of music. The Ocean contains the emotional span of a lifetime and is, in that sense, life compressed to minutes.”
Kinetics have also put together a video for the song, shot on a very snowy night in February in the southern suburbs of Stockholm. It was directed and produced by Pär Brännström, Daniel Jakobsson and Viktor Alatalo; Dancers: Sofia Åkerstedt and Emanuel Axelsson
