Camille Michelle Gray: Baby Better Run

A few days back we were pretty happy to find the following track in our inbox from Washington DC based artist, Camille Michelle Gray. The debut EP from this promising young talent is entitled ‘Street Cinema’, and arrives March 13th with the new single up early on her Soundcloud page along with a brand new video that we’ve embedded below.

Like the single, the video for Baby Better Run is also well done and contains what looks like public domain 16mm footage from a few old Fleischer cartoons featuring Betty Boop (always a crowd pleaser) – not to mention a few other cartoon oldies, and of course the playful personality and soulful vocals of the video’s honey hooked heroine, Ms. Gray.

While we’ve yet to hear more of the new EP, listening to the first single reminds me of the sense of wonder in discovering the great crossover appeal and fun energy back in the 2000 Nelly Furtado debut, “Whoa Nelly”. We definitely recommend keeping up to date at her sites below.
