JP Corwyn: Find Myself

Anyone who knows me will tell you I was a definite child of the 80’s – but I was a teenager of the 90’s.

JP Corwyn: In Plain Sight (album cover)As such, New Yorker JP Corwyn‘s music tapped right into the grunge nostalgia left in my system, revived it, had a flannel-fest with Pearl Jam, Live and Collective Soul, then held it wonderfully hostage as I listened to several tracks from his latest release In Plain Sight.

Corwyn simply writes fiercely melodic, straight-up, non-pretentious rock and roll dipped in grunge-y goodness, and he does so with such consistent quality and production values you’d swear he was turning down major labels left and right. The truth of the matter is that JP Corwyn is unsigned, self-managed, and legally blind since birth.

Aside from light-hearted references to his affliction (such as album titles like In Plain Sight and the upcoming The White Cane Conspiracy) it certainly doesn’t stop him from creating genuinely emotional, guitar-driven rock and roll that makes you want to grow your hair, revisit your vinyl collection, and sing your lungs out.

“Find Myself” is our choice for today’s Daily Dose, and listen for an alternate track, “Dire,” on Insomnia Radio #175.
