Here Come The Birds: Artist Profile
Here Come The Birds are a 5 piece band from Newcastle in New South Wales, about 3 hours north of Sydney. Formed in 2005, the band describe themselves as Rock/indie/post-punk. Supplying their music directly to Erk, The Birds (for short) were featured on episode 4 of Insomnia Radio: Australia. Erk had a certain song already planned for episode 4 however just prior to recording the episode, the band sent Erk a new song.
Since forming, The Birds have played several festivals in Australia including The Big Day Out & Splendor In The Grass. They have had sell-out shows as the headlining act as well as supporting overseas acts. They released demos in 2005 & 2006 as well as their debut EP in 2008. In 2008, the band won a competition ran by major Australian beer brand Tooheys and gained nation-wide airplay on radio station Triple J. July 2010 sees the release of their new album “Young People Never Die” which is being launched in their home town. The Birds are heavily involved in social media complete with videos, extra content and giveaways for their fans.
