IR Orlando #4
Hey everybody!
I’m very excited to share more great tunes with you this week. I was able to clear some music that I’ve been working on for a couple of weeks, and I think you’ll see that it was worth the effort!
Sit back and enjoy some more examples of fabulous Orlando music, and my first time featuring a Friends of the Family segment.
Rock on!
The Music:
Gasoline Heart
‘All The Way’
MySpace
This band was formed less than a year ago, after the founding members’ respective bands split. Their brand new CD, You Know Who You Are (on the Mono vs. Stereo label) was recorded in analog in less than a week by Steve Albini. His name may sound familiar since he also has produced a few bands you may have heard of, including Nirvana and the Pixies.
Their name is a twist on some Paul Westerberg lyrics (‘With your eyes like sparks, and my heart like gasoline’).
They are touring right now, and will be hitting NY, NY, Allston, MA, Pensacola, Sarasota, Lakeland, Bradenton, West Palm Beach, Virginia Beach, VA and Rally Point, TN with an Aug 31 appearance in Orlando at the Social.
The Wynn Brothers Band
‘Dirty Ways’
Fronted by 2 brothers, Jordan and Thomas Wynn, this band is a true family act. Their dad Tom, is the drummer, sister Olivia and Jordan’s wife Heather contribute vocals, and their mom is their manager. The band is rounded out by ‘adoptees’ Lee ‘Uncle Roy’ Simpson and Sean Holcomb.
Debut album ‘Feel the Good’ is available at CD Baby.
Friends of the Family segment:
Joel Streeter
‘All That You Wanted’
Joel is a singer-songwriter living in San Francisco with a brand new solo album, ‘Hear Me Out.’ I was blown away by the richly layered melodies on the tracks Scott played on IR San Francisco recently. This excellent album is available on iTunes and at CD Baby.
Jamie and John
‘I Only Ever Dreamt of You’
MySpace
Jamie and John currently have a 5-track demo and are working on a CD. You can buy the EP at their MySpace page. Two of the band members are also music podcasters with a show called The Eclectics Podcast.
They are shooting a music video and are looking for 2 actors, a boy and a girl, approx. 16 – 20 yrs. old, so email them at jamieandjohn@verizon.net if you live in Central Florida and fit the bill.
Kingsbury
‘The Great Compromise’
MySpace
They have 2 highly praised EPs available, ‘This Place Is Coming Down’ and ‘The Open Sea’ both available at Post Records. Their new record is in the final stages and should be available in the fall, so look for that and also check back for fall tour dates.
Next show is Aug 18 benefit show at Will’s Pub – all proceeds go to
the relocation of Will’s Pub. If you live in Orlando, you should
definitely go to this show – Will’s Pub is a beloved venue that needs
your help to get relocated and reopened.
Fairweather Friend
‘Running’
MySpace
‘Fairweather Friend is what happens when friends create art together.’
They have one EP, ‘Love’s Year: The EP.’
They have been working on a new CD which should be out late this year.
Spacebar
‘Pacific’
Formed in 2003 in Jacksonville by James & Arthur, they relocated to Orlando in 2004 and picked up 2 more members. They signed on with their label, Silent Majority in April 2006. They are hard at work on their new full-length record.
