Miss Morrison’s Mixtape #1

May 22, 2009

MMM#1
Sarah Morrison brings you Miss Morrison’s Mixtape #1, a song from every independent artist and band reviewed on Miss Morrison’s Mix for Insomnia Radio. Most of these tracks were IR Daily Doses and they’re all completely free and legal, so make copies, burn CDs, share with your friends and spread the music around! And don’t forget to show the artists some love!

They are giving away free music after all, so if you like a song let them know – drop them a message, buy a CD or a tshirt, go to a show, just let them know they’ve got a new fan. Because we all know music tastes better when it’s free, but musicians still have to eat!

Insomnia Radio Mixtape: Injection

February 8, 2009

Injection

One from the Archive.  Originally posted by Jason on Thu, 10 Aug 2006 and recently rediscovered. We don’t have a playlist for this, so if anyone knows any of the bands/tracks please add to the comments. [update 15 Apr 2009-SM] I just found the playlist on The WayBack Machine.

Below are Jason’s notes at the time. I don’t think many of in the Northern Hemisphere will be mowing our lawns any time soon, but the other suggestions stand:

“We’re really enjoying our mixtapes lately, can ya tell? On the table for you to spin: A 45 minute injection of the hard rock magic. Keep this one around. Burn it for a friend. Crank it in the car, mowing the lawn, running through your neighborhood. 13 tracks that grab you by the throat and don’t let go. Turn it up gang.”

Greetings one and all. As Jason works feverishly to get Insomnia Radio back to full speed, I could not help but feel the need to get SOMETHING published on the new site. While not “new“, chances are you have not heard it…lately. Originally put together way back in the Fall of 2006, enjoy the Insomnia Radio Baltimore Mix Tape #2. Don and I will return shortly with new shows, I promise.

All the best,

Tim

IR: SoCal Mixtape -Year One Retrospective

December 5, 2007

Love Your MixtapeTodays mixtape celebrates the first year of the SoCal Sessions launching, which occurred this week, one year ago today, on the San Diego feed.

Previous to the launch was a SoCal episode which Jason Evangelho, the main show host, used to smash a glass of Guinness over our prow and send us careening on our way. Michael Catanzaro of the San Diego regional show actually came up with the show name around that time, and the SoCal Sessions soon expanded into its own feed several months later.

This hourlong tape covers some of my favorites since last December, although definitely not all. It would have taken a few more volumes to hit that marker. Trust me, I had several folders of quality local music I had to ween down to put this together.

I would like to ask one thing for those who read this blog and enjoy some of what you’ve heard this past year. Please click on one of the band links below and either a) leave a nice comment or b) purchase a track. In doing so I’m sure you’ll make someone’s day and possibly even inspire some more great music to be created in the future. Consider this small gesture our year-end fundraising drive for local artists who’ve supported us.

Thanks for all the support; more great music on the way soon!
