Insomnia Radio #165: Homecoming
May 27, 2009
Hey gang! I can’t accurately express the myriad of feelings (including anxiety & excitement) I experienced leading up to this episode, nor the overwhelming sense of completion and contentedness when it was finished. Over the past 18 months my life has run the gamut of changes, but Insomnia Radio has soldiered forward thanks to Charles, Stuart, and the rest of the gang. Because of them, I’m able to grab the mic once again and rock the music I love for the world.
I had aspirations to record a gigantic, super-produced episode that would be a marathon of awesomeness, but instead I’ve opted to stay the course and serve up some killer indie music with my trademarked non-professional rambling in between
One more thing to mention: This ain’t no guest hosting gig
Now kick back and enjoy the show…

Miss Morrison’s Mixtape #1
May 22, 2009

Sarah Morrison brings you Miss Morrison’s Mixtape #1, a song from every independent artist and band reviewed on Miss Morrison’s Mix for Insomnia Radio. Most of these tracks were IR Daily Doses and they’re all completely free and legal, so make copies, burn CDs, share with your friends and spread the music around! And don’t forget to show the artists some love!
They are giving away free music after all, so if you like a song let them know – drop them a message, buy a CD or a tshirt, go to a show, just let them know they’ve got a new fan. Because we all know music tastes better when it’s free, but musicians still have to eat!

Insomnia Radio #164: Home Fires
May 12, 2009
Today’s episode warms us up a bit with a healthy dose of rock from UK, Canada, New York, Mexico City (and beyond) before our founder, Jason Evangelho takes over the controls for IR #165.
The name of this episode has double meaning for me personally as I’m planning on destroying most of my home CD collection in the near future and backing them all up digitally. It also has something to do with putting forth our best effort to keep the musical fire burning since Jason’s short hiatus from the network.
Anyway, please enjoy the tracks that I’ve put together for this episode and help support these great musicians. More on the way shortly!

Insomnia Radio #163: Hey Juice!
April 11, 2009
Today’s episode starts off with a little CB chatter from a cat in New Jersey talking to his homeboy Juice in Northern California – then launches into a standout intro track by the funk and soul powerhouse, T Bird & The Breaks from Austin, Texas.
The show today follows no rhyme of reason and the tracks were put together as the juices flowed forward, the program progressively taking on a life of its own – my favorite way to do things creatively.

Insomnia Radio #162 – From A to Z
February 20, 2009

From the beautifully crafted Pop/Rock of Brooklyn-based Aaron Zimmer to the Outlaw Rock Style of Zen Thesis from the Great American West.
For this episode we stay mainly in the United States, venturing North of the Border to Canada a couple of times, thence to the UK, and a short side trip to mainland Europe, to two countries not renowned for their Indie Music Scenes.
All this music was submitted to Insomnia Radio in the last few weeks, so thanks to the Artists, their Managements, Labels and PR Companies for sending it for you the listeners to enjoy.

Insomnia Radio #161 – Bursting at the Seams
February 11, 2009
No, we didn’t win the mustard yellow belt this past year, but we accumulated so many tracks last year and through the first few weeks of 2009, we’ve felt over-gorged on music and wanted to start sharing some with you while we recover from this champion binge session.
The format of today’s show is slightly different in the sense there are no themes really – just a bit of dialogue, and some great musical incentive to down your 161 hot dogs to.
Today’s competitors are:
- Zsammy – City, I Need You Now | free .mp3s
- Arms Entwined – Incandescent Thought Process
- Wintersleep – Archeologists | e-music
- Takka Takka – Silence | e-music
- Kid, You’ll Move Mountains – Make It Sing | store

Insomnia Radio: Double Shots #29 – Which One’s Pink?
January 30, 2009
Welcome to the first in the new series of Double Shots, this one is celebrating the longevity of Prog Rock, with a distinctly Floydian theme.
And this is dedicated to the memory of Richard Wright RIP and sadly missed, keyboardist with Pink Floyd.

Insomnia Radio #160: Saga of the Sagebrush
January 27, 2009
An overdue Insomnia-laden journey has left us saddle-sore as we have traveled long and far these last few months in order to document a motley assortment of musicians. We uncovered them amongst the wild trappers of Portland, to the silver ore miners flooding San Francisco – and deep inside the musical heart of old Texas.
Enjoy our Saga of the Sagebrush, presumably a soul stirring drama with short actors and actresses, but in all actuality; a long overdue collection of folk and Americana flavored music to tend your beards to.
Now, which one of you killed Tex Preston?

Insomnia Radio #159: FU Robot
September 28, 2008
The year is obviously 2008, not 2005 as the evil announcer at the show header describes. Yes, as you will quickly notice, there is some sort of robotic, computer, and videogame nerdery meshed together unseamlessly in this episode, gladly supplied by this uber-geek.
Seriously, we’ve got some great tracks and a few appearances by DJ’s from last month’s New Media Expo in Las Vegas, not to mention two artists have blood and sun in their names; what are the chances, and could that be an ominous sign? Enjoy and as usual, please help support all the hard-working artists below.

IR: The Winter Sounds – Drive to Athens
September 18, 2008
We recently received a message from one of our favorite bands here at Insomnia. Patrick Keenan of The Winter Sounds wanted to proudly share one of the new tracks they just recorded over at Cacophony Recorders in Austin, and rightly so. Pinebox is the name of this beautiful new track and is now being released on a 3 song EP before the band makes it way to Athens in October and November to start afresh on their next full length album.
The band would really appreciate any donations or EP purchases to help them make this goal, so they can rightly sink their heart and soul into the creation of the next full length we are all eagerly anticipating.
Purchase links and donation information is location at their website: thewintersounds.com
