Thee Irma & Louise: Emily Mae

Thee Irma & Louise reportedly crawled out of the tundras of northwestern Switzerland in 2002, choosing to settle in Berne, city of love and swiss garage punk capital. While they cut their fangs on instrumental garage punk, they have since added blues, country, dark psychedelia and more vocals to their efforts.

Emily Mae thankfully came to us in March of 2011, a beautiful 2 song garage-country release with reworked traditional folk tune featuring ANAHEIM’S Gessica Z. on vocals.

The band appears to be putting out another new record by the end of 2017, following the release of their last stunning psychedelic single in 2015, “Gold Under a Tree“. This release is available for 2 CHF at BC with at least one LP from their back catalog under a name-your-price model. A video of a live performance of “Emily Mae” can be seen below from Leipzig on July 11, 2015, although make sure you also check out some of their live surf instrumentals if you get a chance.
