Letitia VanSant & The Bonafides: Rising Tide
Baltimore based indie folk artist Leticia VanSant & The Bonafides first released their single ‘Rising Tide‘ in August of 2013, before it made its way onto her 2015 LP, ‘Parts & Labor‘.
‘Rising Tide’ is a poignant and heartfelt song about the ravages of cancer, which has affected so many of us, with the lyrics particularly hitting home today as I just lost a close childhood friend to this disease – far too soon. Per the band’s bio the LP Parts & Labor, “reflects on the profits-over-people mentality that exploits working families and the communities in which they live. The recording and arrangements were crafted along with the Bonafides, a band who helped transform her repertoire into a bold, complex sound rich with full-throated vocal harmonies.”
Letitia is currently in the process of recording her third studio album, ‘Gut it to the Studs‘, which is being produced by upright bassist Alex Lacquement (of the Bumper Jacksons).
