Social Square: Itching For a Sign

Social Square came together as a indie rock three piece in Paris France during Christmas of 2005. Today’s feature is one of our favorites off the “Feeling Superhuman EP” released in March of this year, reportedly their first recordings paired down to a duet with Faex on Drums & Patrick on vocals+guitar; harnessing two amps and varying sonic gadgetry.

Itching for a Sign” is a powerful closing track from this solid EP, with the opening track being the first we were tipped off by French label, ziklibrenbib, and the other two equally fantastic – strongly rounding out this promising 2017 release. Check out some of their influences below to get a great feel on what you are in for if you pick up the newest; definitely highly recommended. An earlier video for the previous release of “It Never Works” in 2014 can be found below as well, shot while using an iPod attached to a Velib (Paris city bikes).

Influences: Pavement, Dinosaur Jr, Built To Spill, Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Superchunk, My Bloody Valentine, Sebadoh, Pixies, Mogwai, dEUS, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, Flaming Lips, Ride, Blonde Redhead
