Antbrain: Future Son

Atlanta indie rock trio ANTBRAIN came together back in 2008, starting out as a sporadic recording project for guitarist Jiyoung Lee and bassist Dave Bonawits, with the addition of drummer Josh Hall a few years later. Fast forward through several releases of self described “slop-pop” brings us to the four-track EP “Jonathan and Leona” which was released in November of 2012 after recording sessions in “various bedrooms, offices and bathrooms“. We decided to introduce here by playing a favorite from their catalog, specifically the pop-drenched fuzzed out sounds of “Future Son“.

Their bio states that “the overall sound is decidedly 90’s, coming across as a weird mix between the Pixies, Moldy Peaches and Pinkerton-era Weezer. Someone once said they sounded like The Presidents of the United States of America, but they did not like that comparison“.

Antbrain also has several more releases, with the latest arriving late this past year, the seven track “Glorious Prosperous” which is all available through their BC page below under a name-your-price model. The music video “Big and Bad” from the 2011 “Rainnbat” EP, directed by Jiyoung Lee, is embedded here as well.
