Elmer And The Ceramic Trees: Wilderness

Elmer And The Ceramic Trees Janesville, Wisconsin lo-fi post-punk act Elmer & The Ceramic Trees released its third album, entitled Maps of Outer Space. The album was released digitally via BandCamp on Thursday, December 15, 2016.

Maps of Outer Space finds Elmer & The Ceramic Trees drawing from the lush melodies that have long formed the star-stuff of its melancholy universe while also treading into new sonic territory. Singer-songwriter Robbie Haas’s baritone vocals hover tentatively over dreamlike soundscapes that are shaped by swirls of jagged guitars and clouds of icy, atmospheric synthesizers that remain grounded only by driving rhythms that range from danceable to militaristic. With lyrical themes that frequently straddle the line between longing and obsession, Maps of Outer Space is Elmer & The Ceramic Trees’ most ambitious work to date.

Conceived in the summer of 2012, Elmer & The Ceramic Trees is the solo project of singer-songwriter Robbie Haas. Haas has released two previous albums under the Elmer & The Ceramic Trees banner, and performs regularly in Southern Wisconsin.
