Hunter Dumped Us Here: The Life and Death of an Oak Tree

Hunter Dumped Us HereGabe Reasoner of Cedar Rapids Ohio starting creating music at an early age, his first project beginning at five years of age when recording a cassette with his dad. From that point he caught the music bug and he’s been a part of numerous recordings and projects, the latest being ‘Hunter Dumped Us Here’, encompassing who Gabe is. He sent us a great quote to describe this newest project:

“I strive to bring a blend of emotional post-hardcore and singer/songwriter style, sometimes electronic and sometimes acoustic. This project is not just about music, it is about helping people get through times in their life where they need someone. With all instruments and vocals written and performed by me, listening to an album is truly capturing who I am.”

While HDUH released his debut, Ribcage in March of last year, followed by the Key EP in June, today’s featured song comes from the Split EP between Hunter Dumped Us Here and A Young Man. This song is written from the emotional viewpoint of a tree. The feelings of being born, raised, forgotten, cut down, and used, are feelings that are relate-able to real life. This song is meant to illustrate the full course that a tree may take in its lifetime. The song starts off as a seedling, steadily surpising the listener as the song takes on a life of its own during the growth of the song and progression toward the climatic core as the tree and story reach new heights. It eventually slows down again, discarded, used and ready for another seedling to be planted. Its a great idea and is conceptually well done.

Hunter Dumped Us Here is now undertaking work on a full length where he will poetically retell your stories of sadness through music. If you’ve got a good story to tell, please hit him up at the social sites below.
