Southampton five-piece blues infused-rock band Shotaway originally came out of the Canadian Rockies but are now located on a farm halfway between Southampton and Salisbury in the UK making some really great music.
Apparently February of 2013 saw the release of debut E.P ‘24 Hours Is A Short Day‘, and they just released their latest standout single ‘Doctor‘ last month. Sergei Bartlett the lead singer describes it thusly, “The song is written from a mans perspective and he is being hassled by his girlfriend, lawyer and doctor all trying to see/talk to him. It’s hassle that he quite frankly doesn’t see as important as they do. It’s basically him trying to sweep it under the mat and deal with it another day.”
We love this promising new single from Shotaway, and after hearing two more great tracks at Soundcloud, its a surefire sign they’ve got plenty more excellent releases to come. The stirring and soulful vocals really bring to mind other legendary full voices from the past, conjoining blues and a bit of a classic rock vibe with effortless cool, no doubt one of our favorite songs that we’ve had the pleasure of hearing this year.
