Dare Dukes: Meet You at the Bus

Southern romantic via Savannah, Dare Dukes has returned with the debut single from his forthcoming fan-funded, early 2012 full length, ‘Thugs and China Dolls’.

‘Lets be reckless, just the two of us’ is one of the reverberating lines from ‘Meet You at the Bus’ a hopeful tale of youthful escapism that follows two young lovers about to make a great leap out of their probable toxic enviroment to an unknown, yet promising destination. While the story unfolds, a slow-picked banjo cuts to the core, and a melancholic horn slowly swells offering a sense of hope for these two suffering escapists on their bus enabled road to salvation.

Complimenting his band, The Blackstock Collection, Dare promises us guest musicians in spades on this upcoming release, starting with the TV on the Radio horns, specifically Michael Irwin (who tracked this up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn). Anna Chandler also echoes parts of the chorus here, creating quite the proper feel for the two young subjects in the song.

We expect more excellent singles in the coming months, and are doubly looking forward to hearing how he handles any cross-dialogues in ‘Jim Eggers’ Parrot’. It’s apparently the story of real-life character, Jim Eggers, who carries a caged African Grey parrot named Sadie in a backpack everywhere he goes as a safeguard against his psychotic and violent outbursts.

‘Thugs and China Dolls’ oficially releases Jan 17, 2012 on Starland Records.
