Amanda Mair: House

The fine folks over at Labrador Records recently sent over a new talent discovery out of Sweden, namely Amanda Mair. Only 15 years old (now 16) from an island outside Stockholm, Amanda didn’t have any official record as an artist when they discovered her by pure luck in 2010.

She had no Bandcamp or Myspace page, hadn’t made any live shows or sent any demos to labels or press. She did however record a few songs with a friend of Labrador who – blissed out – later played them her recordings.

Labrador describes “House” as the idea of what a young, Swedish Dusty Springfield produced by Kate Bush might have sounded like if she arrived today. I’m also hearing some of the sweeping sounds of label-mates, Sambassadeur, at play here.

This digital single is produced by Philip Ekström (The Mary Onettes / Det Vackra Livet), and officially arrives June 8th.
