Featured on Insomnia Radio: Australia episode 7, Amanda Merdzan hails from Perth, Western Australia. She describes herself as a singer/songwriter with a ‘heart-on-sleeve/indie/folk’ style that sends her songs bursting with raw honesty and emotion. She recently launched her new debut album “Into The Gallery” to a sellout crowd in Fremantle, a seaside suburb of Perth. On the back of this sellout performance, Amanda will be making the long trip to the US at the end of October 2010 to perform solo shows in New York for 3 months. Interestingly, she plans to fly via Japan, where she will make a very brief stopover and hopes to spend most of it asleep.
While researching the tour, Amanda was amazed to find out the number of venues in NYC and wished that Perth had more venues to play live music. She is looking forward to performing a great farewell show for her local fans prior to embarking on her NYC adventure.
X-Press Magazine said about Amanda: “Merdzan’s intimate, diary entry style was well suited to the 20-odd people who had horseshoed around the stage like kids at a sleepover, ready to be let in on her next secret… Given her heart-on-sleeve, super verbose style, lengthy and detailed introductions gave nice background to the accomplished set.”
“Equal parts catharsis and shy exhibitionism, ‘Into The Gallery’ is an earnest and courageous outpouring, emotionally affecting, and totally worth your time.”
