Mesita: Excited for the Future

mesita*We’re finding a TON of amazing music (like this track) via a newish website called The Sixtyone. Picture Digg+Last.FM+HypeMachine+Xbox 360 Achievements. Seriously. Get over there and sign up. And if ya do, use “killyourfm” or “irsocal” as the referrer for good karma 🙂

Mesita is the project of a 20-year-old self-taught multi-instrumentalist from Littleton, Colorado, who specializes in writing bios about himself. He records music a lot as a hobby in his home and at his apartment now. He’s been recording music since 2005 and has been trying to learn more and more about music production. In fact, he’s attending school to find out what most of the equipment he has been using does. He uses a laptop, an old Roland VS-880EX, a couple cheap microphones, and Audacity to record. The songs up on the player are from an album he recorded in May of 2008 called “Cherry Blossoms”, based on a camping trip he took with some good friends to the Great Sand Dunes of southern Colorado.

He is now working extremely hard on the next album and is using some pretty fun studio techniques (binaural sound, ribbon mics, spring reverb) and stuff. The album should be done by Summer…. ish…
