IR SoCal Point Blank: Pistolita

PistolitaWhile the following band broke up recently after some pretty solid touring success, I still wanted to showcase another track from this San Diego group, whom many have classified as Piano Rock along the lines of Ben Folds (Five). As we are nearing Valentines Day, or Singles Awareness Day for those who are devout followers of antivalentinism, I’ve decided to shoot Pistolita’s track “Cupid” down the feed. “Cupid” is from thier debut full length entitled “Oliver Under the Moon”.

I can’t make heads or tails of the lyrics, but they were nice enough to impart some sort of creepy abstract dreamlike state suitable for a Hallmark holiday:

Cupid brings electricity
Intertwined with the mind

And braver than you think
I lept from the building
Poppy fields i ran asleep
Something wicked follows me

A kid broke neck
On white picket fence
And i had no reply
No sting no cry

And softer than you think
She slept among poppies
Poppies give no real feeling
Something wicked follows me
