IR Orlando #2

Hey guys… I’m back for another installment of great Orlando tunes! This week, we’ll be spanning genres from retro rock to punk to electronica…

Running time: approx. 33 minutes

The Music:
Courtneys ‘Bodman Bunny’
This is from the brand new EP ‘Shake It If You Got It.’
If you had to describe their sound, you might say it’s polka pop, hip hop, bee bop, indie rock, circus and The Orlando Weekly said that ‘each song drifts from complete dance party to riot-grrl bitchfest.’

Amy Steinberg ‘Wide Sky Life’
MySpace
Amy has been a fixture on the Orlando music scene for many years. She is a classically trained pianist, having started at the age of 4. She’s self-taught on guitar. She has won many awards, including Songwriter of the Year from the Songwriter Showcases of America and Best Solo Performer at the Orlando Music Awards. She also an accomplished poet who has competed in Poetry Slams all over the country, and she has written and performed several very successful one-woman theatrical
presentations at the Orlando Fringe Festival. She has recently become a full-time touring musician, so check her MySpace site for upcoming shows. This song is from her 7th independent release, ‘Must Be The Moon,’ available at CD Baby.

Michael Powell ‘Haven’t I’
MySpace
OK, so this is slightly cheating, since Michael is from Jacksonville, which is a little north of Central Florida, but I wanted to play it on my show anyway. You see, the multi-talented Mr. Powell is also the host of Insomnia Radio Florida where he brings you the best hard rockin’ music from all over the Sunshine State. He also has another podcast called Spinn Sessions where he showcases his style of club DJing and mixing.

Beat Mavericks ‘Target Rich Environment’
Vinyl Chemistry Records
This is a project involving 2 guys:
Buddah-Kai, who used to be the resident DJ at Barbarellas, and has played
guest spots at Firestone, Antigua and the Blue Room in Orlando, and
Dr. Dabble, who got his start at the young age of 14, back in 1994.
You can buy their stuff at the Vinyl Chemistry website.
